In late December of 2019, reports were filed from local people in rural counties over Colorado and Nebraska to authorities about unidentified aerial objects flying at night. Objects were labelled as unidentified aerial drones (UAD) without official confirmation, source and origin of objects has yet to be determined.
Case Report: The Colorado Drones

Location: Colorado, Nebraska, United States
Incident: Media reports stated that multiple drones are swarming in sequential grid patterns, at night, in formations of anything up to 30 at a time. Drones appear same time at night, from 7pm until 10pm and are unthreatening to public. Reports say they are 6ft across and have evaded capture by authorities. No one person or company has come forward to claim responsibility. The FAA has been asked to investigate.
Behavioural Pattern:
– Flight pattern of UAD is mainly from 7pm until 10pm and night time.
– UAD are reported to be in isolated rural areas, however do hover over private property and towns
– Advanced flight characteristics (staying in the air for 3+hours)
– Physical dynamics of UAD are unlike commercial drones (6ft across is a big drone)
– Reports of a ‘swarm’ of anything from 5, 10 or 30 drones
– Drones appeared across multiple counties in Colorado and Nebraska
– Strange behavioural flight patterns, 20+ Square mile grid scanning at night
Witness Testimony:
“They can sit there and hover. They can descend very fast. They can take off very fast,” Wyatt Harman, who chased the drones as they flew above his land in Washington County, Colorado, told the “TODAY” show.
He and his girlfriend, Chelsea Arnold, said they pursued the lights for about 15 miles, driving as fast as 70 mph.

Analysis: A lack of clear video, photos and reported testimony presents us with the issue of poor data. For example, a lack of witness testimony describing the audio hinders this case, one would expect a swarm of 30 drones with 6ft wingspan to create a notable sound across rural areas.
The physical characteristics and flight behaviour of the UAD is unusual for commercial drones.
The behaviour of the UAD flying in formation and searching in grid patterns is again unusual for commercial drone operators.
Conclusion: The lack of data severely effects any appropriate conclusions that could be made.
The UAD in this case appear to be heavily financially backed with potentially some unknown advanced technology specifically being able to perform the reported manoeuvres for up to 3 hours. Additionally, for the size and energy requirements to keep the objects in the air it is unlikely to be a singular person or persons responsible.
Without further data, the conclusion of origin would be a terrestrial faction that has access to advanced technology. The reports that these objects are drones are currently inconclusive.
Should reports of these UAD be operating in complete silence, then we must consider UAP as an option.
*Update
One individual posting from a created Facebook group have suggested some of the Drones have flown over at close range, making various types of propulsion sounds.
This seemingly was a singular drone which flew overhead and not necessarily representative of the ‘swarm’. However, still this testimony should not be discounted.
Other sources have been reached out to, they have suggested that the drones they have witnessed are completely silent.
More data is needed.
