The Kansas Flying Disc
The ‘Kansas Flying Disc’ is a lesser-known case from history and can be found in the Project Bluebook files online. This is an important case to include within the UAPinfo files, due to the fact the unknown aerial object was a reported ‘disc’ shape and appeared during the height of the 1947 wave (June-July, 1947). The 1947, ‘Flying Disc/Saucer’ wave incidentally and interestingly climaxed with the infamous Roswell crashes in the New Mexico desert in early July of that year. Intriguing that the ‘Kansas Disc’ appeared within days of the Roswell incident.
Case Report: The Kansas Flying Disc

Date: 06/07/1947, (time 13.45, EST).
Location: 10-11’000ft, 100 miles west of Kansas City.
Incident: A United States Airforce pilot (unnamed) reported a very bright and low object to his left (approximately 10 miles away), traveling at approximately 210MPH. After the pilot changed his aerial position, he considered that the unknown object was like the ‘top of a water tank’. When the pilot flew closer in his plane (unspecified type), he observed that the unknown object was approximately thirty to fifty feet in diameter. The ‘Disc’ was round and silvery in colour. The pilot estimated that the disc shaped object was roughly 1000 feet above his aircraft at 11’000 feet. It then appeared around one or two miles from his left wing. As the pilot turned towards the ‘unknown’, it completely disappeared. However, no additional details on how that occurred are available. Possible explanations: We might consider neurological or psychological explanations, or the possibility of a hoax. We might consider misidentifications of airspeed, maneuverers, shape, size and distance of the ‘Flying Disc’. We also would need to consider an anomalous (non-human) technology, however, should be careful over assigning origin (ultra-terrestrials, extra-terrestrials, etc) with limited case data available.
Analysis: The case was reported in Project Bluebook and its credibility is gained through the Airforce pilot’s testimony, despite the pilot not being named or the type of aircraft involved. The single source witness is not backed by additional on-record testimony and no other evidence is presented. The large silver metallic disc is historically a typically reported shape, however without further video or witness testimony the case is hindered. Additionally, we must also consider neurological/psychological issues in single witness cases where the pilot is unnamed and can’t be reached for verification. The final issue is that this is a ‘cold case’ from 70 years ago with no potential for additional forthcoming information. Despite the disadvantages, the case portrays a close, highly detailed example of a pilot witnessing a traditional ‘Flying Disc’. The question of anomalous technology is important here, and although we don’t have data to suggest origin or destination, we do have enough to consider the potential reality of a ‘Flying Disc.’ No evidence of a hoax was found. Overall, this is an official government case report from within the USAF’s Project Bluebook of a genuine ‘unidentified’ vehicle of unknown origin that shouldn’t be discounted.
Conclusion:
1). AATIP classification: The UAP displayed ‘anti-gravity,’ however none of the other ‘five AATIP observables’ were reportedly displayed by the UAP.
2). Despite the limited additionally data reported in this Bluebook case, the detailed account of a reported ‘Flying Disc’ by a trained military pilot is presented via an official government document.
3). More data is needed to conclude with a high degree of confidence.
