The USS Roosevelt incursions happened across 2014/2015 and involved the Red Rippers squadron (and others). The most famous UAP videos come from this case, ‘GIMBAL’ – for example, is the video of a blurry ‘Flying Disc’ that stops and seemingly rotates. The other famous video is ‘GOFAST’ in which an unknown object traveling over the ocean is recorded by Navy Pilots. Both were filmed via the forward looking inferred (FLIR) of a F-18 Navy fighter jet in the January of 2015.
At the time it is thought that both were captured by the same pilots, by the same crew and from the same night-flight, although it wouldn’t be until 2022 that I could confirm this via Navy Pilot Ryan Graves. Additionally, it is believed by some researchers that there might be as many as five different videos from the Roosevelt case in 2015, although again this is unverified officially. On the show Coast To Coast AM with George Knapp, Keith Basterfield stated that there may be another three videos that are separate to ‘GOFAST’ and ‘GIMBAL’. Pilot Ryan Graves has since confirmed additional details about the GIMBAL incident, however much of the incident is missing and deemed to be classified. What we know is that the Navy Pilots described ‘GIMBAL’ as a ‘spinning top’, otherwise known as a ‘Flying Saucer’ or disc. The main issue with the USS Roosevelt case however, is a distinct lack of data which is problematic for UAP transparency.
Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) Briefings on Roosevelt Incursions
In April 2022, a heavily redacted email would be released by The Blackvault following an FOIA request that confirmed additional details of the infamous GIMBAL case from January 2015. The email addressed to ‘Admiral,’ gave details of the Weapons System Operator (WSO) – the aviator who filmed the ‘GIMBAL’ video we have all seen so many times. On January 16th (year not stated) an unclassified briefing took place that involved members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI), the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) (including a representative for Senator Tom Cotton, R.AR), Navy Office of Legislative Affairs and Navy attendees including the FA/18 Pilots who encountered and filmed the ‘GIMBAL’ object. The email document confirmed that the 2015 UAP incident took place in the warning area off the East Coast of Jacksonville, Florida. The incident took place ‘towards the end of the night flights’. The redacted document also stated that the GIMBAL object was travelling from the EAST and heading towards the ships (we now know to be the USS Roosevelt). The Navy aircrew determined this was not a false hit and were able to gain a lock. The document then states that the object was shaped like a ****. The ‘****’ part is blacked out, redacted and classified.
The document also confirms that ‘a portion of that video’ was aired by the press and this is what engaged Congress interest. We can conclude that the shape of the GIMBAL (which we know to be a Spinning Top/Disc through pilot disclosures to The New York Times in 2019) has been classified in this document. Additionally, this document also confirms that there is a longer version of this video – as we also understand to be accurate. The documents of the FA/18 pilot encounter would reach some media in April of 2022, most prominently the Daily Mail. Another issue was that there had been some confusion over the ‘GO FAST’ and the ‘GIMBAL’ videos and if it involved the same pilots. In 2022, I would ask Navy Pilot Lt. Ryan Graves on social media if he could shed any light on this, to which he replied.
“Same aircrew, same flight, same night. I actually wasn’t aware of that fact initially, but it was confirmed by DoD though I don’t have the source readily available”.

Conspiracies and debunking GIMBAL
Up until that Sunday in the May of 2019, we had no additional details surrounding the ‘GIMBAL’ gun camera footage that was released by The New York Times in 2017. Up until that point ‘GIMBAL’ remained a single, unverified video of a strange inverted ‘disc’ looking object which seemingly stopped in mid-air and rotated. Due to the lack of supporting data, the unfortunate case meant that internet conspiracies emerged from pseudo-debunkers trying to paint a narrative that it was all a hoaxed ploy to trick the government into taking UFOs seriously. In the case of the ‘GIMBAL’ object, the debunkers tried to argue that the object wasn’t rotating (despite the pilots witnessing it on multiple sensors) and that it was a lens flare/trick of the light, which was a result of the aircraft’s camera. As for the object itself – the debunkers claim it was simply an out of focus plane (at 30nm away) and the other fleet (five Cubes within Spheres) was not addressed by them. What they didn’t want to take into account was that when Pilots use their infrared forward looking camera, they can still clearly make out the wings of a blurry aircraft – regardless of ‘glare’. Also, both the ship’s radar and F/18s can identify rogue aircraft (and identify it) in sensitive military airspace at 30 miles away. Marik von Rennenkampff, a former consultant to President Obama, would point out to us, ‘Glare doesn’t rotate and never exceeds wingspan’. Meaning the debunkers were wrong. Other erratic debunker claims over the years have been proposed that the object in ‘GO FAST’ video was a delinquent balloon and that the ‘Cubes within Spheres’ were misidentified radar deflectors, all of which have been debunked, or should we say ‘re-bunked’.
The objects are still officially unidentified by DoD. A multiple billion-dollar defense system What the debunkers never acknowledge is that the United States military systems and sensory technology is highly profound and hyper advanced. They are the best of the best, used by the military of the world’s greatest superpower. If we look at the radar detection systems and in particular (AN) SPY-1, apparently that system can maintain a continuous radar surveillance whilst automatically tracking more than 100 targets at one time. According to the Missile Defence website: SPY-1 can detect a golf ball-sized target at ranges in excess of around 165 km. The unique SPY-1 multi-function phased array radar system is reported by the Global Security website to be designed for very challenging missions, which include ‘long-range volume search, fire control-quality tracking and ballistic missile defense’. Additionally, when we consider that this sensory radar technology is deployed by the most sophisticated defence apparatus in the world, and by a military designated to fight and win wars, we must conclude that this is not the same standard as a civilian with a polaroid camera taking an obscure photo of a UFO in the sky one drunken fourth of July weekend.
The Navy and Airforce are able to identify aircraft which fly into sensitive airspace, without question. Planes and drones are identified miles before they incur into a strike group airspace. The origin of any aircraft would be known and the destination would also be known – instantly. Consider also that aircraft don’t simply escape an FA/18 or and FA/16 with top speeds of Mach 2 (1’500mph) and an average cruising speed of 577 mph. If we also consider the very best modern day fighter planes produced at Lockheed Martin – the F/16V or ‘Viper’ are the very latest edition of the F/16 Fighting Falcon fourth generation – a multi-role, fighter aircraft. The latest F/16V has a clear glass cockpit and now incorporates an upgraded mission computer that includes state-of-the-art avionics and multi-function colour displays. Situational awareness has been improved on the F/16 Viper and is equipped with an upgraded program display generator and has an ability of ‘identification friend or foe’ (IFF). Again, these advanced machines aren’t Randy Quaid flying in a crop duster – these are the most sophisticated aircraft that operate as part of a billion-dollar defense institution. And they are reporting anomalous objects they simply cannot identify. Think about that.
The on-going USS Roosevelt incursions:
On the East Coast of America in 2014 through to 2015, the United States military were reporting unusual activity of various objects. The main reports included UAP such as ‘Flying Discs/Spinning tops’. Also reported were greyish/black Cube objects that were encased in translucent spheres with the edge of the cubes touching the boundaries of the inner spheres. The diameter of the ‘Cubes within Spheres’ was between 15-20 feet. Five Navy Pilots reported to The New York Times in 2019 that small ‘Cubes encased within Spheres’ were operating in their designated training areas, and on one occasion a cube flew closely between two Navy aircraft causing a near miss. These incidents occurred down the East Coast of the United States, and in particular, a protected area of coastline known as warning area (W-72). Also, they occurred off the East Coast of Jacksonville, Florida, which has become a UAP hot-spot for encounters.
“Two videos captured by the gun camera of an F/A-18 squadron were allegedly taken on 21/01/2015. The two videos known as ‘GIMBAL’ and ‘GO-FAST’ were taken in the restricted area by unknown pilots.”
Thanks to an upgrade in their technology, the updated radar systems within the aircraft allowed for closer sensory awareness of UAP, and consequently, the pilots were able to zero in with infrared targeting cameras. In one specific incident, Navy Pilots chased a ‘Disc/Spinning Top’ object as it flew in unison with a fleet of five ‘Cubes within Spheres’ – although the short 30 second GIMBAL video (known as GIMBLE on DD1910 form) doesn’t show the fleet of cubes or what happened before or after (Lt. Graves would in 2022 confirm that the full GIMBAL video length was over 4 minutes).
That same night, the same squadron captured another UAP as it moved quickly across the ocean and was known as the ‘GO-FAST’ video. There is around 16 minutes between the end of the GO-FAST video ending and GIMBAL video starting. It is thought these two videos might be part of the same longer video, but this has not been confirmed.
The full details of these two videos have not been made public and the ‘GO-FAST’ video provided no clear details of the UAP involved.
Testimony of Former Navy Pilot Lieutenant Ryan Graves
“As viewed from the Situation Awareness page, the GIMBAL object appeared to be ‘behind’ a wedge formation of 4-6 objects that were flying in a straight-line path for a period of time. From the appearance of their radar tracks, they appeared similar to my eye as the ‘cube in a sphere’ objects we’d see regularly. I say this as their Target Aspect indicator seemed a bit jittery- as if the radar had difficulty determining which way the vehicle was pointing even though they were proceeding in a straight line. Eventually, the wedge formation began a turn. The vehicles turned similar to an aircraft, where they had a radius of turn. This is in contrast to the GIMBAL object which reversed its direction with no turn. The turn of the wedge formation, if I remember correctly, was not a ‘clean’ formation turn. The vehicles seemed to break formation to a certain extent but reposition to their original formation as they rolled out on the opposite heading. The GIMBAL object was stationary (as seen in the video) as the turn was executed. Once the wedge formation completed the turn and was flowing in the opposite direction, the GIMBAL object rotated as seen in the video. After the video was cut, the GIMBAL began to flow behind the wedge formation. For the record, after seeing 100s of aircraft and countless other air and ground-based objects through the FLIR1, I have never seen anything like GIMBAL. I think it’s clear the Aircrew in the video feel the same way”.
Assessing alternative explanations
The main alternative theory was proposed by debunkers who stated the object in GIMBAL was a distant plane. The seeming rotation effect from the object was an artefact of the Advanced Targeting Forward-Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) and the lighting glare from the distant plane’s engine, which obscures the body of the plane due to the distance (proposed 30 miles). Lt. Ryan Graves stated that the pilots involved were capable of identifying all types of aircraft and essentially, they know what they are doing.
“The aircrew that night were paired because they were the two most tactical LT’s in the squadron… if not the airwing. And they have awards to prove it. When they report they flew right up to ‘the thing’(GIMBAL) and were 6-8nm away, I have very high confidence in that testimony”.
The biggest problem with the ‘distant plane/no-rotation’ hypothesis is that it ignores the testimony of the pilots which state the GIMBAL object was a ‘Flying Disc/Spinning Top’ and was followed by the ‘Cubes within Spheres’. Additionally, the GIMBAL case was identified in the redacted UAPTF-DNI report from 2021, and the details remain classified. Meaning we don’t know what happened before or after the 30 second video or why the shape of it would be classified in an official government report.
Some have tried to explain the ‘Cubes within Spheres’ as radar reflectors due to their similar shape, however the static performance of radar reflectors do not match the reported ‘Cube’ objects ability to move and turn in unison.
The Navy Pilots have refuted the claims that GIMBAL was a distant plane caused by a lighting effect of the ATFLIR sensor. Additionally, the black ‘Cubes within Spheres’ which were stated to be 15-20 feet in diameter were reported almost daily by Grave’s squadron from 2014 through to 2015. This might rule out the potential for pilots to be seeing radar reflectors daily and then not identify them as such. Debunkers are claiming that the Riper squadron on January 21st, 2015 encountered Go-Fast – a ‘balloon’ – and were unable to identify it. Then within 16 mins they encountered Gimbal a ‘misidentified plane’ caused by ‘glare’ – and again were unable to identify it. They ignore what pilots such as Ryan Graves and Danny Accoin (alongside the 5 anon pilots on record with NYT in 2019), have stated and try to debunk on 30 seconds of blurry videos. They also fail to mention that the Gimbal case was classified and taken very seriously with briefings on this incident given to government officials within ONI, SASC, SSCI.
The simple fact is that Naval pilots alongside nuclear strike groups can identify ‘balloons’, ‘drones’, ‘glare’ and ‘planes’ with incredible definition. While debunkers are confident Go-Fast and Gimbal have mundane explanations, I am not so sure. I’m sceptical.
Analysis of the holistic case:
The Roosevelt incursions (2014/15) rely heavily on the data/testimony of the Navy Pilots who came forward in 2019. Without clear details of the GIMBAL or GO-FAST videos and the lack of substantial testimony of additional Navy Pilots or further DoD clarification, the Roosevelt incursion case is limited. Additionally, this lack of sensory array data means we might tentatively consider neurological or psychological explanations, or the low possibility of a hoax. We might consider misidentifications of airspeed, manoeuvres, shape, size, and distance of the ‘Flying Disc/Spinning top’ object in the GIMBAL video. We also would need to consider an anomalous (non-human) technology, however, we should be careful over assigning any origin of UAP (ultra-terrestrials, extra-terrestrials, etc) with limited case data available. The case is potentially a genuine representation of anomalous technology, however we need more data to fully rule out alternative explanations.
